Vital Arts brings contemporary art into the hospitals of Barts Health NHS Trust, from major commissions to workshops with patients and staff.
2026 marks its 30th anniversary, and its work now spans large-scale commissions in new wards and waiting areas, participation projects, exhibitions and an art sales programme that helps fund it all.
The work is the story, so the site had to be built around it. That meant a home for commissions, projects and artists, plus clear routes to the things that keep the programme going: buying art, donating, volunteering and signing up for news. And all of it needed to be easy for a small team to keep fresh.

Big, image-led project pages for commissions like Newham Horizons and Welcome To Our Home, with a homepage slideshow that rotates through the latest work in the hospitals.

A proper home for artists
Artist profiles, open opportunities and commission briefs each have their own section, so artists find what is relevant to them without digging.

Every page has a next step
Buy Art, Donate and newsletter sign-ups are built into the homepage and footer, so supporters always know how to help. Every artwork sold helps fund the programme.

Simple for a small team
Native Squarespace blocks and collections throughout, so the team can add projects, press and opportunities themselves.
