Why we're offering this

Most charity websites we look at are doing 70% of the job. The other 30% - the bit that quietly costs you donations, sign-ups and search traffic - is usually fixable in an afternoon if you know where to look.

We've been building Squarespace websites for charities, membership bodies and public sector teams since 2012. We're Squarespace Circle Platinum Partners, based in Chester, working with non-profits across the UK and beyond. We know what good looks like on this platform, and we know the specific quirks of third sector sites: donate buttons that fail on mobile, SEO that's stalled around "almost ranking", accessibility gaps that creep in with every new trustee blog post.

Our founder, Ian Masters, spent years as an in-house creative manager at local and national UK charities before starting olio creative in 2012. The audit reflects what we wish someone had handed us back then - a proper diagnostic, in plain English, with the priorities ordered by impact rather than by what an agency wants to sell you.

So we're offering it free. You get the findings whether you ever work with us or not.

What's a charity website audit?

A charity website audit is a structured review of how your website performs against the things that matter for non-profit fundraising and outreach: how easily supporters can donate, how visible you are in search, how accessible your site is, and how technically healthy the underlying platform is.

A good audit gives you a prioritised list of fixes, ordered by impact and effort. A bad audit is a generic PDF where everything is flagged "critical" and nothing is contextualised for your charity, your audience or your stack.

Ours is the first kind.

What we'll review

  • Pink round badge with a black check mark in the center.

    Your donation journey

We'll walk through the route from "I want to help" to "thank you for your gift" on desktop, mobile and tablet. We'll flag friction points, broken steps, and the small UX changes that typically lift conversion.

  • Orange circle background with a black check mark in the center.

    Your search visibility

We'll identify which keywords you're "almost ranking" for (positions 8 to 20), where the quick wins are, and what's blocking you from moving up. Includes a look at how you're being summarised by Google's AI Overviews and other AI search tools, which is increasingly where supporter research starts.

  • Blue circular icon with a black check mark in the center.

    Your accessibility

We'll test your site against WCAG 2.1 standards covering screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, colour contrast, alt text and form accessibility. Charity websites have a higher duty of care here than commercial sites, and the legal landscape is tightening.

  • Pink circle with black checkmark in the center.

    Your Squarespace health

We'll check version (7.0 vs 7.1), custom code, page weight, image optimisation, third-party integrations and anything else that's slowing the site down or storing up technical debt.

  • Orange circle with a black check mark in the center.

    Your fundraising stack

We'll review how Squarespace is talking to your CRM, donations platform (JustGiving, Enthuse, Stripe, Donorbox, GoCardless or otherwise) and email tool, and flag any joins that are leaking data or duplicating effort.

How it works.

  • Step 1

You fill in the short form below.

  • Step 2

We spend a couple of hours auditing the site properly, with findings prioritised for charity context.

  • Step 3

We send you a written PDF audit with our findings, prioritised by impact, that you can share with trustees, your board or your wider team.

  • Step 4

    (optional)

If you'd like to talk it through, you can book a 45-minute consultation call with us for £99. We'll walk you through the findings, answer questions and discuss what implementation might look like.

  • Step 5

    (also optional)

If you'd like us to take any of the work on, we'll quote based on the specific job. No retainers, no minimum spend, no pressure.

Who this is for?

This audit is designed for:

  • Pink circle with black check mark inside.

Registered UK charities currently using Squarespace 7.0 or 7.1

  • Pink circle background with a black checkmark in the center.

Non-profits, CICs and social enterprises with a charity-equivalent mission

  • Pink circle with a black check mark inside

Membership bodies and trade associations in the third sector

  • Pink circle with a black checkmark in the center.

Education providers and small public sector teams running on Squarespace

If you're not on Squarespace yet but are considering it, get in touch separately. We do platform migrations from WordPress, Wix and bespoke builds, and the audit format doesn't quite fit that conversation.

Why us?

We're Squarespace Circle Platinum Partners, the highest tier of Squarespace's partner programme, which puts us in the top 1% of Squarespace specialists worldwide. We're also Squarespace Marketplace Experts, listed in the official designer directory.

Since 2012 we've delivered more than 100 custom websites, with charities, non-profits and public sector organisations forming the core of our work. Recent third sector clients include Activity Alliance, Place2Be, Merseyside Sports Partnership, Vital Arts and Happy Human Project.

We're based in Chester and work remotely with clients across the UK and internationally.

Frequently asked questions.

  • A written PDF report covering your donation journey, search visibility (SEO and AI search), accessibility against WCAG 2.1, Squarespace platform health, and your fundraising stack integrations. Findings are prioritised by impact.

  • We turn audits around within 10 working days from the date you submit the form.

  • No catch. We offer it free because we'd rather charities spent their money on their mission than on diagnostics. If you want to talk through the findings or have us implement fixes, those are paid services. If you don't, that's fine too - plenty of charities take the audit and run with it themselves.

  • Registered charities are our core focus, but we also work with CICs, social enterprises, non-profits, membership bodies and small public sector teams. If your organisation has a charitable or social mission, get in touch.

  • Free SEO tools produce generic, one-size-fits-all reports that flag everything as critical and offer no prioritisation. Ours is shaped by a Squarespace specialist with 14 years of charity sector experience, focused on what actually matters for non-profit fundraising and outreach. You get a clear list of what to fix first, why it matters, and what impact it'll have.

  • The audit format is Squarespace-specific, so not in this exact form. But we do platform migrations from WordPress, Wix, Webflow and bespoke builds, and we're happy to chat about whether Squarespace is the right move for your charity. Drop us a line via our main contact form.

  • A 45-minute video call where we walk through the audit findings together, answer your questions, and discuss what implementation might look like — whether that's you doing the work in-house, briefing another agency, or asking us to handle it. The £99 is optional. The audit PDF is yours either way.

  • We rank findings by impact-to-effort ratio. A broken donate button on mobile is high impact, low effort, and goes to the top. A complete content restructure is high impact, high effort, and goes lower. We explain the reasoning so you can make your own call if you disagree.

  • Yes, please do. The audit is written to be readable by non-technical trustees and is designed to support internal conversations about website investment.

  • We aim to deliver every audit within 10 working days, so when capacity is tight we'll let you know on submission. We don't artificially cap the number - if we can do it, we will.
