No old login needed · Circle Platinum Partner · 200+ Squarespace sites since 2012
Hosting switched off, a developer who's vanished, or a login nobody has any more. If your site was ever online, there's a good chance we can recover it from web archives and rebuild it in Squarespace, in an account that's yours.
/ Sound familiar?
How websites go missing
The hosting was switched off
A provider closed your account, a card expired or a renewal email went to someone who'd left. One day the site just wasn't there.
The developer's gone, and so has the login
Nobody can get into WordPress or wherever it lived, so there's no way to copy anything out.
Years of content feel lost
Articles, lessons, resources and images you thought you'd have to recreate from scratch. You probably won't.
/ How it works
From archive to back online, without the old login
-
Step 01
Find your site in the archive
We search the web archives for saved copies of your old site and tell you what's there.
-
Step 02
Pull everything out
Text, images, pages and downloads, recovered straight from the archive. No access to the old system needed.
-
Step 03
Rebuild it in Squarespace
A fresh design on native blocks, with your recovered content put back and checked page by page.
-
Step 04
Back online, and yours
We connect your domain, redirect the old links so Google finds you again, and hand over an account in your name.
/ Case study: HeartStrong
A whole website back from the archive in two weeks.
Dr Steven Lome's heart health site was taken down by its previous provider. It had been built on WordPress, and with no way into WordPress there was no way to get his content out. We went to the Wayback Machine instead, pulled every page, image and lesson from the archived copies, and rebuilt the whole thing in Squarespace.

/ The honest bit
What we can and can't bring back
The archive saves what visitors could see. We'll check yours on a free call and tell you exactly what's recoverable before you spend a penny.
Usually recoverable
- Page text, headings and layout
- Images and logos
- Articles, lessons and resources
- PDFs and downloads that were linked publicly
- Your old page addresses, so we can redirect them
Usually not
- Pages the archive never saved
- Anything behind a login, like member areas
- Form submissions, orders and customer data
- Video files hosted on the old server
The price depends on how much there is to recover and rebuild. We check the archive first and give you a fixed quote, so you know the cost before anything starts.
Get a quoteYour site, in your name
Squarespace looks after the hosting, security and updates, and the account is set up in your name, not ours. If you ever part ways with a designer, the site stays with you.
- No plugins to update or hosting bills to forget
- Training so your team can edit it themselves
/ Questions
Getting your website back
Can you really recover my site without the old login?
Usually, yes. The Wayback Machine keeps copies of most public websites, so we work from those instead of your old system. That's how we recovered HeartStrong with no access to its WordPress site.
What if my site isn't in the archive?
We'll tell you on the first call, before you pay anything. If there's nothing saved, we can still build you a new Squarespace site from whatever you do have.
How long does it take?
It depends on how much content there is. HeartStrong, with a full library of lessons, took two weeks from archive to rebuilt site.
Will I keep my web address?
If you still own your domain name, yes, we'll point it at the new site. If it has lapsed, we'll help you work out whether it can be bought back.
Will my Google rankings come back?
Often, yes, at least in part. Google remembers your old pages for a while after a site goes offline. We rebuild at the same addresses where we can, redirect the rest and submit a new sitemap, so Google can reconnect the dots. The sooner you act, the better your chances.
Does it have to be rebuilt in Squarespace?
That's what we do, and for most small organisations it's the best home: no plugins or hosting to manage, and your team can edit it themselves. If Squarespace isn't right for what you need, we'll tell you honestly on the first call.
