Terms
Last updated
These terms cover every project olio creative takes on: Squarespace websites, migrations, website recovery, SEO, brand and design work.
olio creative is the trading name of Ian Masters, a sole trader based in Chester, UK. When we say "we" or "us", we mean olio creative. When we say "you", we mean the person or organisation we're working for.
By confirming a quote in writing or paying a deposit, you agree to these terms. If your quote or proposal says something different from these terms, the quote wins for that project.
Quotes and starting a project
Every project gets a fixed quote based on the scope we agree. Quotes are valid for 30 days.
The quote covers what's written in it. Anything outside that scope is quoted separately, and we'll always agree the cost with you before starting it.
Your project slot is booked once we've received your deposit. Work starts from then.
Payments and deposits
We ask for a 50% deposit to book your project, and the remaining 50% when your website launches or your final files are delivered.
Invoices are due within 14 days.
The deposit secures time in our diary that we turn other work away for, so it isn't refundable once work has started.
We launch your website, and hand over final files, once the final invoice is paid.
If an invoice is overdue, we may pause work until it's paid. For business clients, we may also charge interest at the statutory rate on late payments.
Third-party costs are paid by you directly. This includes your Squarespace plan, domain name, fonts, stock images, and any apps or extensions your site uses.
What we need from you
Your content (text, images, logos and any logins we need) by the dates we agree. You confirm you own it, or have permission to use it. If anyone makes a claim about content you've supplied, for example over copyright or defamation, you agree to cover any costs or damages that result for us.
Feedback within a few working days at each stage. Timelines in your quote assume this.
For Friday Night Live, all content must be ready before your week starts. If it isn't, we'll move your slot to the next available week.
Timelines and amends
Your quote says how many rounds of amends are included, usually two. Extra rounds, or changes after you've signed something off, are quoted separately.
Timelines are estimates and depend on content and feedback arriving on time.
If we haven't heard from you for 60 days, we'll treat the project as paused. We'll invoice for the work done so far, and restarting it may need a new slot.
After launch
If something we built isn't working as it should within 30 days of launch, tell us and we'll fix it free of charge.
After that, quick, easy fixes are still on us. Bigger changes or new work are quoted up front.
Squarespace and other services
Your website lives in a Squarespace account in your name, and you pay Squarespace directly for it.
We're not responsible for outages, price changes or feature changes made by Squarespace or other third-party services (such as Google, Zapier or Typeform).
SEO and AI search
We use proven methods to help your site show up in Google and AI tools, but no one controls their results. We can't guarantee rankings, traffic or mentions in AI answers.
Who owns what
Once you've paid in full, you own the final website content, design and brand files we make for you.
Until then, they remain ours.
Concepts you didn't choose, and our own code snippets and methods, stay ours. You're free to keep using any code we've added to your site.
Fonts, stock images and plugins stay owned by their makers and are used under their licences.
We may show your project in our portfolio and on social media. Just tell us if you'd rather we didn't.
Cancelling a project
Either of us can end a project by letting the other know in writing.
If you cancel, you pay for the work done up to that point. The deposit isn't refundable once work has started.
If you're buying as a private individual rather than a business, you have 14 days to cancel after agreeing a quote. If you want us to start within those 14 days, you'll need to ask us in writing (an email is fine). If you then cancel, you'll pay for the work done up to that point. Once the work is fully complete, the right to cancel ends.
Liability
We take real care with every project. Our total liability for any project is limited to the total fees agreed in your quote for it.
We aren't liable for indirect losses, such as lost income or lost data. Please keep your own copies of your content.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Privacy
We only use your personal information to run your project and stay in touch about it. See our privacy policy for the details.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you accepted your quote applies to your project.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
