FOR CHARITIES + NON-PROFITS
Squarespace websites + branding for charities that do brilliant work
We design websites, brands and campaigns for UK charities and non-profits. We spent over ten years inside charity comms teams before going it alone, so we know your budgets, your trustees and your Tuesday-afternoon emergencies.
/ SOUND FAMILIAR?
The things charities tell us on the first call
If any of these have come up in a team meeting lately, you're in the right place.
It worked when it launched. Now it doesn't reflect the quality of the work you actually do.
The one person who understood it has left, and every change means emailing someone.
People land on the site, mean to give, and drift off somewhere between the button and the form.
People searching for exactly what you offer are finding someone else, or nobody at all.
Five services, three audiences and a funder who wants it all on one page.
The logo was made on a shoestring years ago, and it's started holding you back.
/ WHY OLIO
We've sat on your side of the table
Before olio went full-time, Ian spent years as an in-house creative and comms lead at local and national UK charities.
Today we're a two-person Squarespace and brand studio in Chester, proud members of CharityComms and official Squarespace Circle Platinum Partners and Marketplace Experts. You work directly with the people designing and building your site, not an account manager.
- Fluent in both "funding bid" and "frontline service"
- Sites your team can update without a developer
- Accessibility built in from the first wireframe
- We know how to stretch a budget without it showing
- Calm, kind and good in a crisis
/ CHARITY WORK
Recent work for good causes
Websites, annual reviews, campaigns and brands for organisations doing important work.
/ ACCESSIBLE BY DESIGN
Built for everyone your charity serves
Charities carry a higher duty of care than most organisations, and your audiences often include the people least well served by careless web design. So accessibility isn't a checklist we run at the end. It's how we design from the start.
- Colour contrast that passes WCAG
- Readable type at every size
- Full keyboard navigation
- Screen reader friendly structure
- Meaningful alt text
- Visible focus states
- Respectful, reduced motion
- Forms anyone can complete

/ QUESTIONS
Charity website questions, answered
How much does a charity website cost?
Squarespace websites start from £1,200, with fully custom builds from £2,500. We offer dedicated packages for registered charities and quote every project after a free discovery call, so you only pay for what you need.
Is Squarespace a good platform for charities?
For most charities, yes. It's secure, low maintenance and easy for small teams to update without a developer. It isn't the right fit for complex membership databases or heavily customised fundraising workflows, and if that's you, we'll tell you honestly on the first call.
Can people donate through the website?
Yes. We connect your site to the donations platform you already use, whether that's JustGiving, Enthuse, Donorbox, Stripe or GoCardless, and design the journey so giving takes as few steps as possible.
Will our team be able to update it?
That's the point. We build with native Squarespace blocks and hand over with training, so your team can publish news, update pages and swap images without touching code.
Will the site be accessible?
Yes. We design to WCAG 2.1 standards from the start: contrast, readable type, keyboard navigation, screen reader structure, alt text and accessible forms.
Can you move our site from WordPress or Wix?
Yes. We migrate charity sites from WordPress, Wix and bespoke builds, with redirects handled properly so you keep your existing Google rankings.
Can you help with our brand and comms too?
Very happily. Branding, tone of voice, annual reviews, campaigns and social are all things we've done in-house for charities, and doing them alongside the website keeps everything consistent.
