design

We design websites, brands and campaigns for UK charities and non-profits. We spent over ten years inside charity comms teams before going it alone, so we know your budgets, your trustees and your Tuesday-afternoon emergencies.

TRUSTED BY PEOPLE DOING GOOD

01 / SOUND FAMILIAR?

The things charities tell us on the first call

If any of these have come up in a team meeting lately, you're in the right place.

Comms manager · 09:14
Our website feels dated

It worked when it launched. Now it doesn't reflect the quality of the work you actually do.

Operations lead · 10:02
Nobody knows how to update it

The one person who understood it has left, and every change means emailing someone.

Fundraising lead · 11:47
We need more donations

People land on the site, mean to give, and drift off somewhere between the button and the form.

Digital officer · 13:20
We're not showing up in Google

People searching for exactly what you offer are finding someone else, or nobody at all.

CEO · 15:36
We struggle to explain what we do

Five services, three audiences and a funder who wants it all on one page.

Chair of trustees · 17:58
Our brand doesn't match our ambition

The logo was made on a shoestring years ago, and it's started holding you back.

02 / WHY OLIO

We've sat on your side of the table

Before olio went full-time, Ian spent years as an in-house creative and comms lead at local and national UK charities. That means we've written the funding bids, presented to the trustees and stretched the budget. We know what a website has to do for a charity, because we've needed it to.

Today we're a two-person Squarespace and brand studio in Chester, proud members of CharityComms and official Squarespace Circle Platinum Partners. You work directly with the people designing and building your site, not an account manager.

A written audit, prioritised by impact, ready to share with trustees and your wider team.

STEP 04 · OPTIONAL

Talk it through

A 45-minute consultation call for £99. We walk the findings, answer questions, discuss implementation.

STEP 05 · ALSO OPTIONAL

We do the work

If you'd like us to take anything on, we quote per job. No retainers, no minimum spend, no pressure.

06 / QUESTIONS

Questions, answered

Is the audit really free? What's the catch?

Really free. The honest commercial logic: some charities will want help implementing the findings, and some of those will hire us. But the PDF is yours either way, and most of the fixes are things your team can do themselves.

What does the free audit include?

A structured review of your donation journey, search and AI visibility, WCAG 2.1 accessibility, Squarespace platform health and fundraising stack integrations, delivered as a written PDF with fixes prioritised by impact and effort.

How long does it take?

We send the written PDF within 10 working days of your request. The review itself is a couple of hours of hands-on time on your actual site, not an automated scan.

What's the difference between this and a free SEO tool report?

Automated tools flag everything as critical and understand nothing about charities. This is a human review with charity context: we know what a donation journey should feel like and which fixes actually move the needle for a non-profit.

What does the £99 consultation call cover?

Forty-five minutes with us, walking through the findings, answering questions and discussing what implementation might look like, whether that's your team doing it, us, or a mix.

Can we share the PDF with trustees and our board?

Please do. It's written in plain English for exactly that audience, with priorities ordered by impact so budget conversations are easier.
